Geely Xingyue S Brief Test Drive Summary:

The test drive model was the all-wheel-drive top configuration (price at 171,700 RMB), equipped with a 2.0T engine and an 8AT transmission, with a maximum power of 175 kW and a maximum torque of 350 N·m.

First, let's talk about the sporty atmosphere of the car. The body exterior has claw-like decorations, dual exhausts at the rear, black model name, suede interior with a black ceiling, fluorescent green stitching, and seat belts. All these are deliberately designed to create a visual sense of sportiness for the car. However, I feel the air intake grille at the LOGO area is slightly small, which might detract a little from the sporty vibe.

After discussing the visuals, let's talk about the feel.

The front seats provide a strong sense of enclosure, with sufficient lateral support. The steering wheel is of a suitable size, but the grip feels slightly thin, perhaps because they did not want to create a too heavy steering feel, as the steering wheel itself is not too heavy when driving the vehicle.

During normal driving, the 8AT transmission shifts smoothly without deliberately delaying gear changes. However, when flooring the accelerator, the AT transmission does not provide the same powerful feeling as a dual-clutch transmission.

The exhaust sound of the Xingyue S is genuine, even in normal driving mode, you can hear the exhaust sound from the rear coming into the cabin. When you floor the gas pedal, there might be a slight backfire sound. In sports mode, the exhaust sound seems to overpower the engine sound. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I find the exhaust sound a bit noisy.

The auxiliary driving functions are similar to those of the Xingyue L. The rear legroom is noticeably smaller than the Xingyue L by more than a fist, with close to two fists of legroom (for my height of 173 cm).

Overall, the Xingyue S feels a bit too sporty, but it aligns with the model's positioning. Young people seeking a sporty experience can choose the Xingyue S, while consumers looking for a family car should opt for the Xingyue L.
