Toyota RAV4 20 Urban Edition Pick-up Review
The car model configuration is the 2020 version of the 2.0 Urban Edition. The invoice price is 163,800 yuan, and the insurance price is 4,400 yuan, with a Ping An Third Party coverage of 2 million (this price was a bit unexpected, originally thought it would be around 5,500). The on-road price is 189,000 yuan. A 3,000 yuan financial service charge and 1,000 yuan GPS fee were incurred due to financing, and the dealership also charged a 2,000 yuan car purchase service fee (including license plates). The dealership gifted window films, a dashcam, floor mats (provided by the manufacturer), a fire extinguisher, and a 1,000 yuan gas card. Additionally, I installed front two and rear four radars (1,200 yuan) and a Kashi central control screen with a reversing camera (1,000 yuan) at the 4S dealership, as well as wrapped the seats in leather (1,000 yuan).
Being my first car in life, the process of selecting it was very cautious. In the price range of about 200,000 yuan on the road, I considered the RAV4, CR-V, and Tiguan L at the time. All three cars had a similar on-road price. Since I prioritize safety features in car selection, I did not have many requirements for comfort features and power demand. The 2.0 low configuration of the Tiguan L and the comfort version of the CR-V did not match the RAV4 in terms of active and passive safety features; they only had additional features like a sunroof and one-button start. If one wants to enhance active and passive safety features, additional money must be spent on configurations, leading me to choose the RAV4 after thorough research, as safety is paramount.
During the car purchase process: Since two new 4S stores opened locally, they disrupted the monopoly of the original old store. After a price war among the three 4S stores, I ended up purchasing the RAV4 from the old store (since it had been established for 11 years, the supporting services were more complete), with a discount of 11,000 yuan offered. Here are the specific details regarding the price:
The pick-up process: Since the car was ordered for production, I placed the deposit on February 2 and picked up the car on March 15, waiting a month and a half. During pick-up, I saw the plastic film still on the seats and checked the production date of the windows and tires, looked at the paintwork, and found no issues, so I proceeded with the delivery on the same day.
Now, let's talk about the advantages of the RAV4: My car is the lowest configuration of this model, with few configurations but quite a few advantages. The 2.0 naturally aspirated power output is smooth, with no other noises, and driving it feels more comfortable compared to other models. The power is relatively average, but compared to most cars on the street, pressing the gas pedal harder still makes it significantly faster than them. However, the sound of pressing the gas pedal is not very pleasant or comfortable, with a powerless roaring sound, worth complaining about. The fabric seat wrapping is quite decent and comfortable, without the cheap feel of fabric seats in cheaper cars. However, fabric is still fabric, with no high-end feeling like leather seats. For a car approaching 200,000 yuan, it's disappointing it doesn't come with leather seats. The adaptive cruise control is very useful; I went on a long trip a few days ago and didn't feel tired at all. It can automatically brake and adapt to the speed. With high safety features, driving gives a sense of confidence, especially the automatic braking system and the numerous airbags described in the product introduction, which are crucial for both family and oneself. My favorite feature is the safety configurations.
As for the disadvantages, the noise insulation is quite average, with the sound being a bit too loud, especially during start-up and acceleration, where it feels roar-like. For a car in this price range, it only comes with a radio, requiring post-installation of a large screen, even though mine is the lowest configuration, sigh. Moreover, it doesn't have keyless start, all of which need to be added. The car paint is very thin; a scratch appeared while parked downstairs, and I have to be extremely cautious daily to avoid new scratches.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the RAV4, although the co-pilot seat cannot be adjusted up and down, making the seating slightly uncomfortable, particularly with the head hitting the ceiling.
