Changan Lumin, like the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, belongs to the pure electric mini car category, but it is somewhat larger in size. Its dimensions are 3270*1700*1545mm, with a wheelbase of 1980mm. When compared to the dimensions of the Hongguang MINI EV (2920*1493*1621mm, wheelbase 1940mm), the size advantage of the Changan Lumin becomes evident.
In terms of seating layout, the Changan Lumin offers a three-door four-seat configuration. The second-row seats can be folded down proportionally to expand the trunk space when needed, with a standard trunk volume of 104 liters.
The styling of the Changan Lumin leaves a strong impression, breaking away from the stereotypical "senior citizen fun" image often associated with such inexpensive microcars. The round headlights, combined with a simple front design, appear very cute. Together with the floating roof and round taillights, the car looks fashionable and exquisite. The wheel design adopts a three-petal shape, resembling petals, and the 14-inch size fits the proportions of the Changan Lumin well. It's worth mentioning that the design of the Changan Lumin is quite clever, likely appealing to a significant number of female car owners.
The interior is equally noteworthy. Firstly, in terms of color scheme, the Changan Lumin uses matching colors with the car body, making it very fashionable and eye-catching. It’s worth noting that regardless of the trim level, all new cars come equipped with a 7-inch LCD instrument panel and a 10.25-inch central control screen, enhancing the sense of technology. It also features numerous physical buttons for controlling volume, air conditioning, etc., making it easier for blind operation during driving.
As for the configuration, the Changan Lumin is fairly substantial, at least in terms of safety features, which include two front airbags, reversing radar/image, and tire pressure warning. Other configurations, such as hill assist, manual air conditioning, and a multifunction steering wheel, are also present. While not overly abundant, it suffices for use as a commuter vehicle without major issues.
The Changan Lumin is available in three configurations: Sweet Model (48,900 yuan), Fragrant Model (53,900 yuan), and Honey Sweet Model (63,900 yuan). The configurations are almost identical, with the price difference reflected in the range. The Sweet Model, priced at 48,900 yuan, is equipped with a 12.92kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a 155 km CLTC range; the Fragrant Model, priced at 53,900 yuan, is equipped with a 17.65kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a 210 km CLTC range; and the top Honey Sweet Model comes with a 27.99kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a 301 km CLTC range. The motor power for the first two models is 30 kW, while the top model has a motor power of 35 kW. Unfortunately, the entire series of Changan Lumin does not feature fast charging. The corresponding slow charging times are 7.5h, 9.8h, and 9.5h, respectively.
From a practical point of view, I would certainly recommend the top model, the Honey Sweet Model, priced at 63,900 yuan, particularly for regular household use. With no fast-charging option, a longer range reduces the anxiety associated with electric vehicles. A 301 km CLTC range would suffice for daily usage, covering about 50 km per day, requiring a charge every three days.
Overall, compared to other pure electric mini cars, the Changan Lumin stands out for its fashionable and exquisite design, relatively rich configuration, and especially the technological feel brought by the two screens in the interior. The top version's price of over 60,000 yuan is not expensive, making it a practical choice for use as a family’s second commuter vehicle.
