Great Wall ORA Good Cat is a pure electric model with a stylish and cute appearance, featuring a retro vibe that is favored by many female drivers. It's a model suitable for young people for daily commuting. Moreover, in cities with license plate restrictions, it can be registered without being affected by quota limitations, as a green license plate can be obtained. We conducted a test drive of this car, specifically the 21 model with a 500km long-range Poseidon version, and here I'd like to share my impressions of the test drive.
1. First, let's talk about the price, which is a concern for everyone. The configuration we tested is the top configuration with extended range, with a new car’s guiding price of 143,900 yuan. Currently, there are no discounts in the market, and it usually takes about 1-2 months to get the car. Since it's a pure electric vehicle, there is no purchase tax, only insurance that costs about 5,000 yuan, and registration costs about 500 yuan, bringing the total landing price to around 148,900 yuan.
2. In terms of power, this car is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor, delivering a total power of 105kW and a peak torque of 210N·m. From the acceleration experience, it is quite responsive. Electric cars offer a more direct power delivery. Before conducting an acceleration test, switch to the sports mode, which provides a great acceleration feeling during the process. Compared to similarly sized gasoline cars, the power is relatively sufficient. According to the actual test data, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.36 seconds, which is adequate for a city commute model.
3. This car offers three driving modes: in sports mode, you can feel enhanced acceleration. The energy recovery system allows for three-level adjustments. If you are used to gasoline cars, you can switch to a weak energy recovery mode to feel minimal changes. The car also provides an L2+ level autopilot assistance system, which could further relieve the driver when cruising on highways as the vehicle adjusts according to the set speed, traffic signs, and real-time road conditions. For safety, a smart lane-keeping system is included, making the safety configurations quite comprehensive.
4. As a small car, although the body size is 4235x1825x1596mm, it offers a wheelbase of 2650mm, which is comparable to mainstream A-class cars. I am 175cm tall, and after adjusting the seat, sitting in the front row doesn’t feel cramped, with an additional space of approximately a fist left above the head. The trunk space is somewhat sacrificed due to the body design, with a capacity of only 228L. If you need to store larger items, the rear seats can be folded down to increase the space to 858L.
5. The ORA Good Cat employs a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension. The chassis isn't too effective at absorbing and filtering bumps, and it generates additional rebounds when crossing larger potholes. The front seat's riding experience is slightly better. It's worth noting that the interior quietness of the ORA Good Cat is quite good, and being an electric car, the noise inside the vehicle is only 55 decibels at around 70 km/h, making the cabin relatively quiet during the test drive.
